Rajnarayan Basu took up the responsibility of propagating Barahmmo Religion giving up hi profession as a teacher.He was one of the admirer of Rabindranath's poetic talent.But Rabindranath didnot like the list of English poets submitted by Rajnarayan. He didnot like Mark Akenside topping the list.
His preference of studying English poets was expressed in Malati Punthi. He preferred Irish Melodies of Thomas Moore and Child Harold's Pilgrimage of Byron. Rabindranath translated many stanzas of Irish Melodies.
A stanza of original work of Irish Melodies and Rabindranath's translation is as follows,
"As slow our ship her foamy track
Against the wind was cleaving,
her trembling pennant stilllook'd back
To that dear Isle'twas leaving"
translation is (written in English Alphabets)
"Pratikul Bayubhare Urmmimay Sindhupare
Tarikhani jetyechila Dhiri
Kampaman Ketu Tar , chechila katabar
Se dwiper pane phiri phiri."
It was not possible for anybody known to Rabindranath to remain indifferent to the symptoms developed about the talent of Rabindranath in writing poetry. Rabindranath had classmates with renowned personality, such as Debendranath Banerjee, Manoranjan Das, Prabodh Chandra Ghosh, Surendranath Mitra, Badan Chandra chandranath, Jnanchandra and Nirodnath Mukherjee, Debendranath Roy, anandalal sanyal, and Nabakrishna Saha.Among the classmates the name of Among the classmates of Rabindranath Prabodh Ch. Ghosh was well known. He is the person who first printed Kabygrantha, Kabikahini, of Rabindranath.
In Letts' Diary he wrote Prthirajer Parajay, banaful, Abhilash, Hindumelar upahar and Prakritir Khed.
Rabindranath possessed some novel thinking.
In Silaidah gardener used come to their house and decorated the house with flowers daily. One day Rabindranath thought that he would write poems with the coloured juice coming out from the flowers. he made a plan. A wooden flower vase be made with a hole at the bottom and the flowers be pasted with a hammer. As he thought things were prepared by Jyotirindranath with whom he was living. But the juice did not come out by pasting with hammer. The flowers became pasted and formed something like mud. the juice and the presure of the hammer could not produce any rhythm..
After staying for about one month Rabindranath came from Selaidah this (2 nd time) time.
2nd session of Biddwatjana Samagama was held last night in Sreejukta Baboo Gunendranath Thakur's house. Rabindranath read an essay inverse "Prakritir Khed",from his own writing.Prakritir Khed was publishedin different form in "Pratibimba". memory.
Rabindranath recited "Hok Bharater Jay' in Hindu Mela from his. memory.
Rabindranath wrote a song , Jwal Jwal Chita agun agun" in "sarojini or Chitore Akraman Natak" written by Jyotirindranath.
In the present issue of Jnanankur O Pratibimba Rabindranath's writings were published as follows.
1. Agrahayan-Pralap , pratham sarga
2. Do - Banaful - pratham sarga
3. Magh - Banaful; dwitiya sarga
4. falgun-pralap
5. Chaitra - banaful, 3 ya sarga.
