Rabindranath in Ahmedabad,

Palace at Sahibag, where Rabindranath stayed with his elder brother Satyendranath before going to London and this palace was used as a plot of Kshudita Pashan, a drama.
Rabindranath wrote," I was uprooted from the ground and planted in a separate field in a new environment. "
Satyendranath had a good library. The books were arranged in the holes of the wall. Rabindranath picked up a book of Tennyson with pictures. A solitary room at the top of the palace was alloted to him. In moonlit night he used to roam about on the roof. This was the first time he he gave gave tuning to his song .  narrated vividly in Jibansmriti. The first lines of the song ,"Niraba rajani dekha magna jochanay / dhire dhire ati dhire ati dhire gao go "  . This song was included in Bhagna Hriday and was published in Bharati ,  The music notation was published in Swaralipi Gitimala of Jyotirindranath.
The song "Balio amar golapabala" was published in Bharati , Agrahayan issue. Non-resident Bengalee, Rabindranath had close contact with Calcutta. Rabindranath was preparing himself at the same he was working  with his Songs and Kabyas.
English knowledge of Rabindranath was not satisfactory. He used to read all English books with the help of a dictionary. He could understand very little but he was not bothered and was satisfied with what he could follow. He was brought all the books of History of English literature.
Rabindranath went to Bombay at Dr. Atmaram Panduram's residence under his hospitality on Aug 1878.

Rabindranath at 16

In the year 1284 [1877] Bharati published only 9 issues . For easy calculation 1285 was taken as 2nd year of publication of Bharati. In the last issue Rabindranath was accepted as a member of editorial board. When 2nd issue of 2nd year was going to be published , Rabindranath began to be  ready to go to  Ahmedabad  before going to London. Though he was busy in selecting and editing the articles to be published , he was at a long distance when the printing was going. In the present issue only the introduction of articles of Rabindranath would be given.
In the index of  Baishakh issue the essay of Rabindranath titled "Samudrik Jib" was published.
These were the translated poetry collected from Malati punthi.
Satyendranath  came to Calcutta to fetch Rabindranath to Ahmedabad. Satyendranath was posted as assistant collector and Magistrate on 27the April 1865 After different changes he was posted in 19 April 1876 as a district and session judge [temp]. His official quarter was Sahibaug.
He was given a Govt. quarter at Sahibag. Rabindranath gave the detailed description of the palace at Sahibag.

This was a palace built for the king in Muslim period. At the base of the palace thin stray of the river Sabarmati flows. An open roof overlooked the river. Rabindranaath wrote that they were born and brought up at Calcutta where historical evidence was absent.after coming to Ahmedabad he found that the history suddenly stopped here and the  stories were all buried underground.
He gave a vivid description in his story titled Kshudita Pashan after a long period.
The main reason of his coming to Ahmedabad was to prepare himself fit for going to London. The English books purchased to make him known the styles of UK.
Rabindranath wrote 3 articles in Bharati in 1st issue of 2nd year.
1. Bhanusingher Kabita, 2. Samudrik Jib/Kitanu, an essay, 3. Karuna, a novel.
At first there was tuning , Imankalyan, in Bhanusinger Kabita. Subsequently, that was lost.
While writing the essay Samudrik jib, Rabindranath was studying an English book on Science and this essay was a result of that reading. It was difficult to be taken as  written Rabindranath because at the end of the essay the letter "Bha" in Bengali. Probably, wanted to express his joy for the ensuing sea voyage to go to London.
Karuna , a novel to be published in serial.

Bharati a Bangla periodical. It was first published in 15 Sravan, 1284 BS (29 July 1877). jyotirindranath Tagore (1849-1925) pioneered the publication of this literary magazine. Dwijendranath Tagore (1840-1926) was its editor. Rabindranath contributed three pieces for the first issue and very soon the Bharati became a prominent periodical. The Bharati combined analytical discussions on literature, science, geography, theory of knowledge, current topics, local history, and theatre, along with progressive political articles. It became the upholder of nationalist ideas during the editorship of Sarala Devi.
The Bharati has a very interesting editorial history. After Dwijendranath (1284-1290 BS), Swarnakumari Devi (1291-1301) took charge and worked hard to keep up the uniqueness of this excellent journal. It was conspicuous by its regularity, lucidity and wide acclaim among critics. Hiranmayi Devi and Sarala Devi jointly took charge as editors for the years 1302-1304, and Rabindranath was its editor for a year (1305).

Music training of Rabindranath

Rabindranath said that he could not remember when he could not sing.
Rabindranath got his music training  from four teachers.
1. Dilip Kumar Mukhopadhyay,
2. Bishnu Chandra Chakrabarty,
3.Jadunath Bhattacharya, &
4. Srikanthya Singha.

Dilip Kumar Mukhopadhyay was the first music teacher of Rabindranath.

Bishnu Chandra Chakrabarty and his elder brother Krishna Chakrabarty were paid teachers of Brahmo Society since the time of Rammohan Roy. Even after the death of  Rammohan he remained as paid teacher.
Indira Debi wrote to Prasanta Kumar Paul that Bishnu Chakrabarty taught songs to Rabindranath fit to the childhood, e.g.,
Bagh palalo biral elo
Sikar karte hati
Moghal pathan mugdha halo
Pharcy pare tanti

Jadunath Bhattacharya
Jadunath taught music to poet Rabindranath Tagore in his young age. The writer of “Vande Maataram”, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay also took music lessons from Jadunath.

For Jadunath's melodious voice, Rajas of Panchacot awarded him the title of 'Ranganath' and Maharaja of Tripura; Birchandra Manikya awarded him the title of 'Tanraj'. Jadunath had written various songs in Bengali and Hindi. He was known for 'Khanderbani' dhrupad music.

Jadunath raised this music to a higher level and made it well known throughout India. He expired at the age of 43. Jadunath's 177 years old tanpura that Dhrupad legend Jadu Bhatta used to play while giving lessons to icons like Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and Rabindranath Tagore has made its way to Indian Museum.

Sree Kanthya Singha ; Rabindranath cited an example  with reference to  Sree Kanthya Singha without referring the name of Jadu Bhatta in Jiban Smriti.
" Once there was a famous singer in our house for some period. He always talk nonsense to Srikanthya Babu in drunken state. Sreekantha Babu took it with a smiling face and did not protest a little. At last the singer was asked to leave our house. At this Sreekanthya Babu said that there was no need of driving him out of the house. He did nothing. It is only the wine who did the mischief."
